About Quantum Tiger
With the exception of the picture of me on this page all the photographs on this site were taken by Ian Coleman. I am a Middlesex-based amateur photographer specialising in wildlife and landscape photography. A few of my prints are available for purchase. If you'd like to buy something not given there, please drop me a line.
Acknowledgements
The Quantum Tiger would like to say a big thank you to all those who have inadvertantly assisted in the creation of this site - but he's not going to, so I'll say it for him. Thanks go out to all those who have acompanied me on my many walks, and introduced me to interesting and intriguing places.
I am extremely grateful to the many producers of free software which have enabled the production and maintenance of this site. Particular mention should be given to PHP, MySQL, Notepad 2, First Page 2000 (html editor), and FileZilla (ftp software). In addition to the free stuff, I have also appreciated the sheer delight that is Adobe Photoshop Elements. If only all commercial software were this easy to use!
Equipment
Most of the shots since August 2005 were taken with a Canon EOS20D DSLR (which I love to bits!). For general shots I typically use the EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS lens or, where more length is required, the EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS. For wildlife my lens of choice is the EF 400mm f5.6L, often coupled with a Tamron 1.4x teleconverter. For stability and sheer ease of use I tend to mount the 400 on a Gitzo 1566 monopod, but when a tripod is required I use a Gitzo 1227 with a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead. Prior to getting the 20D I was using the excellent Konica Minolta A2.

The Quantum Tiger is much the same as an ordinary tiger, except that he is virtual and doesn't really care about exactly where he is or how fast he is moving. A distant relative of Schrödinger's cat, although he would be a tad more dangerous if you met him in a dark alley. At this particular point in time, however, the Quantum Tiger is feeling mellow and well fed. If you ask him very nicely he may just collapse his waveform long enough to share some of his digital wares.
